The referee gave Vespasiano a penalty, 8 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Diego Cosme, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of E.C.Mutum's Renatinho Lira. 1-0. In the 12th minute Ricardo de Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renatinho Lira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Armandinho Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otávio Pontes in the 14th minute of play. After having played for 20 minutes, Otávio Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. E.C.Mutum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Otávio Pontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 29th match minute, Vespasiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson de Amaral to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, E.C.Mutum's Renatinho Lira got control of the ball when Gildo Paranaense tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 33rd match minute, E.C.Mutum was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucas Cardoso to maneuver through the defense. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Vítor Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Armandinho Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Vítor Amorim in the 68th minute of play. Reginaldo de Lara hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Denílson Baiano during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Vespasiano getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Denílson Baiano hit a great ball. Armandinho Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Vítor Amorim in the 75th minute of play. If Otávio Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renatinho Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gildo Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Vágner Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 93 minutes, Gildo Paranaense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vespasiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gildo Paranaense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Vespasiano lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
