Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gil Quadros started the match with the kick off. Cafu Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Quadros in the 7th minute of the match. Cafu Lira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Garcia in the 8th minute of play. When Ramón Porto came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Vere EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramón Porto couldn't finish the play. 11 minutes into the match, Brebe's goalkeeper Hernani Barreto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramón Porto. Cafu Lira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fernando Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cafu Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Quadros in the 16th minute of the match. The attack was good, but when Gil Quadros in the 18th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Nilson Trevisan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brebe's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilson Trevisan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cafu Lira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 22ndth minute of the game Gil Quadros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vere EC's Cafu Lira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Ramón Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vere EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramón Porto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 27 minutes, Gil Quadros made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Vere EC's Cafu Lira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 30 minutes into the match, Luiz Fernando Garcia notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Vere EC's Cafu Lira. Cafu Lira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gil Quadros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronaldinho Campidelis kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Cafu Lira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fernando Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Fernando Garcia in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cafu Lira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 45 played minutes Brebe got a freekick which was hit by Oséias Marquez. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Décio Schmidt made the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of Vere EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Brebe:s goal. Dráuzio Travassos shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Luiz Fernando Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nilson Trevisan kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Décio Schmidt in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hernani Barreto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Fernando Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the match, Vere EC's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Quadros came free, but Cafu Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 77 played minutes, Vere EC's Afonsinho Cordeiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hernani Barreto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vere EC reached it. Brebe's Hernani Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Décio Schmidt in the 79th minute of play. Luiz Fernando Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Fernando Garcias short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Cafu Lira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Luiz Fernando Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cafu Lira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gil Quadros in the 95th minute of play. The Vere EC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Brebe were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
