Cobras Fumantes's Percival Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Damião in the 3rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Evaristo Sabóia in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcelo Porto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Léo Baptista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Cobras Fumantes booed when Bezerrinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Gustavo Couto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manoel Neto charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Marcos Cearense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Percival Monteiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play.

The tension between the Bezerrinha and the Cobras Fumantes players grew even worse after the yellow card. 53 minutes into the game, Cobras Fumantes's Evaristo Sabóia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
