The audience was convinced that Samuca Schmidt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Waldemar Couto was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. With a little luck, Itamby AD's Maurinho de Andrade got control of the ball when Orlando Dias tried to sneak it across the goal line. Orlando Dias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Maurinho de Andrade made a huge save. After 28 played minutes Marcellino AD got a freekick which was hit by José Augusto Maranhense. 29 minutes into the match, Marcellino AD's goal looked a bit too open when Giovani Souto came free, but Waldemar Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Itamby AD's goalkeeper Maurinho de Andrade had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Orlando Dias. Maurinho de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Chaves in the 44th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, Itamby AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raí Domingues to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Samuca Schmidt made a kick off. Itamby AD were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Marcellino AD's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Márcio Gerber took the corner. In the 56th minute Samuca Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldemar Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Samuca Schmidt came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Itamby AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuca Schmidt couldn't finish the play. In the 60th minute, Claudinho Chaves made a precise shot to the right of Maurinho de Andrade. Itamby AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. If Giovani Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Samuca Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the game, Lino Ortiz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marcellino AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itamby AD the free kick. In the 68th minute, Lino Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Itamby AD booed when Marcellino AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Orlando Dias kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Giovani Souto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Waldemar Couto made a huge save. Marcellino AD's Waldemar Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuca Schmidt in the 89th minute of play. After 93 minutes of play, Marcellino AD's Claudinho Chaves made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Maurinho de Andrade was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Itamby AD eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
