Conrado Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Diamantino Penha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nelsinho Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Régis de Azevedo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 33rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Francisco Castro. Ilheus SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Diamantino Penha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flávio Carvalho in the 38th minute of play. In the 46th minute Geraldo Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind AC Fiorentina's goalkeeper Diamantino Penha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 56th minute Geraldo Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geraldo Alagoano in the 58th minute of play forced Ilheus SC's goalkeeper Francisco Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes in the game, Nelsinho Leal fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Francisco Castro having to interfere. If Nelsinho Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nelsinho Leal got free with Francisco Castro in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nelsinho Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Francisco Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelsinho Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Castro having to interfere. If Conrado Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 85 minutes, Conrado Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ilheus SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conrado Berger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Conrado Berger took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Diamantino Penha. Diamantino Penha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. If Geraldo Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 98th minute Geraldo Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ilheus SC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
