In the 18th minute, Horácio Secco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sidney Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Jarquari EC's zone, Moisés Cerezo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arí Velasco came out of the goal and Moisés Cerezo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Horácio Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jarquari EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Horácio Secco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thomás de Sena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 33 minutes into the game, Tião Tepedino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sarandira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jarquari EC the free kick. In the 35th minute of the match Almir Ramos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thomás de Sena showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvinho Neiva in the 36th minute of play forced Sarandira's goalkeeper Thomás de Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvinho Neiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juvenal Bittencourt got free with Arí Velasco in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Horácio Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomás de Sena having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juvenal Bittencourt got free with Arí Velasco in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidney Paiva made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Renato Netto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arí Velasco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juvenal Bittencourt in the 56th minute of the match. After 61 minutes of play Sarandira's Tião Tepedino was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Sarandira's Tião Tepedino got a free kick in the 62nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvinho Neiva got free with Thomás de Sena in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Silvinho Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
