Stronda's Rubens de Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Mineiro in the 7th minute of play. Stronda's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedé Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Deivid Perez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Piraua's Patrick Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Patrick Amaral made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Dedé Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 55th match minute, Piraua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Igor Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Dedé Castro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stronda fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After having played for 65 minutes, Cristian Mineiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piraua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Mineiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonso Oliveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Rubens de Senna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, Piraua's goalkeeper Deivid Perez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benedito Novaes. With a little luck, Piraua's Deivid Perez got control of the ball when Benedito Novaes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Afonso Oliveira hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute Alfredão Pimenta suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Stronda's Celsinho Pombal was substituted for Alfredão Pimenta. Cristian Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Dedé Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Deivid Perez having to interfere. Rubens de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Amaral in the 85th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Patrick Amaral in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rubens de Senna saved Stronda from getting behind. Dedé Castro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 95th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 96th match minute, Piraua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davi Botelho to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Piraua fans cheered their team off the field, for while Stronda had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
