Dráusio Vander hit a great ball. The long shot by Gilvan Penha in the 11th minute really tested Joélson Schmidt's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Gremio booed when Clube Atlético Riviera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorre Paschiers didn't get a good kick on the ball. 0-1 became the score in the 18th minute when Kauan Teles elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Carl Arenberg kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Gremio's Vágner Netto broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 23 minutes into the match, Gremio's goal looked a bit too open when Kauan Teles came free, but Fernandão Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Pedro Penas short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Joélson Schmidt to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lefteris Mavromichalis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandão Valle having to interfere. Natanael Marques hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Gremio's zone, Kauan Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernandão Valle came out of the goal and Kauan Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joélson Schmidt came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Gremio's José Pedro Pena. But to his dismay, José Pedro Pena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Magno Sousa was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Gremio defense, Lefteris Mavromichalis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernandão Valle. The Gremio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernandão Valle should have stopped the shot. Kauan Teles's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Fernandão Valle skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 60 minutes into the game, Clube Atlético Riviera's Kauan Teles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fernandão Valle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. If José Pedro Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th minute, Fabinho Saldanha had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Geovânio Mendes fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube Atlético Riviera's protests and gave Geovânio Mendes a yellow card for diving instead. Kauan Teles might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernandão Valle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kauan Teles ran back to his position shaking his head. Fernandão Valle didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kauan Teles went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. After 82 played minutes Gremio got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos Castro. Geovânio Mendes kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. If Magno Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that José Pedro Pena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joélson Schmidt was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Gremio's zone, Lefteris Mavromichalis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernandão Valle came out of the goal and Lefteris Mavromichalis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Gremio fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Clube Atlético Riviera were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
