Samuel Ferraz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luizão Nascimento's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute, Ivo Meirelles made a precise shot to the right of Joélson de Senna. Taguariaiva's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Taguariaiva's Luizão Sampaio got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manduri's Samuel Ferraz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Nascimento in the 18th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Manduri's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Sampaio came free, but Samuel Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Taguariaiva's Joélson de Senna got control of the ball when Ivo Meirelles tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Luizão Sampaio came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Taguariaiva fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizão Sampaio couldn't finish the play. After having played for 27 minutes, Luizão Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Taguariaiva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luizão Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Taguariaiva's Joélson de Senna got control of the ball when Ivo Meirelles tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luizão Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Ferraz having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 39th minute of the game. One of Manduri:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Taguariaiva:s goal. Ivo Meirelles struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Joélson de Senna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manduri. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The audience was convinced that Ivo Meirelles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joélson de Senna was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. The supporters of Manduri booed when Taguariaiva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Manduri's goalkeeper Samuel Ferraz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luizão Sampaio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Samuel Ferraz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Samuel Ferraz made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Luizão Sampaio sent off a good shot on target. Taguariaiva's Luizão Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Luizão Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 72 minutes, Luizão Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Taguariaiva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luizão Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Léo Nascimento in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joélson de Senna saved Taguariaiva from getting behind. After 86 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Manduri! Samuel Ferraz had in the 89thth minute some difficulties stopping David Quintal's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 89 minutes into the match, David Quintal notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Manduri's Samuel Ferraz. Samuel Ferraz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Samuel Ferraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Sampaio in the 92nd minute of play. If Luizão Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, Taguariaiva's Samuel Ferraz threw himself towards the right post 96 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luizão Nascimento, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 97 played minutes Taguariaiva got a freekick which was hit by Chicão Meirelles. After 98 played minutes Manduri got a freekick which was hit by Benedito dos Santos. Manduri succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Taguariaiva had controlled the match.
