Fabiano Correia ran over to the corner to take the kick. 28 minutes into the match, Guaraji's goalkeeper Emanuel Sabóia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Luiz Prado. A collision led to Licuri getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Américo Donato hit a great ball. Tony Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Emanuel Sabóia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Guaraji's zone, Tony Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emanuel Sabóia came out of the goal and Tony Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tony Gomes to make the kick off. Armindo Loureiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fábio Torres in the 53rd minute of play. Dino Guerra succeeded in the game's 55th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Dino Guerra might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Armindo Loureiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dino Guerra ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fábio Torres in the 59th minute of play forced Licuri's goalkeeper Armindo Loureiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
