The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cássio Hermes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Genílson Arantes in the 24th minute of the match. A collision led to Caranahyba AD getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Davi Varela hit a great ball. In the 28th minute, Guilherme Rodrigues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Buritizinho's Celso Pereira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo Terra in the 45th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Guilherme Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Hermes having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Caranahyba AD's goalkeeper Cássio Hermes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmílson de Almeida. Guilherme Rodrigues took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cássio Hermes. Cássio Hermes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. If Guilherme Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guilherme Rodrigues succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 87th playminute. Cássio Hermes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genílson Arantes in the 97th minute of play.
