Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Elói Carioca started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 4 minutes into the match, Covao FC's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto Nascimento came free, but Romeu de Alcântara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Covao FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 5th minute. Penalty! Silvério Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Romeu de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elói Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu de Alcântara having to interfere. With 16 minutes on the clock, Gilberto Cearense commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 15th minute, one of Tapaiuna:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Tapaiuna. If Christian Campidelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 played minutes Tapaiuna got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Cruz. Silvério Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Romeu de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Tapaiuna booed when Covao FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Paraíba didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute Silvério Gaúcho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu de Alcântara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeferson Nóbrega sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Covao FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Tião Cardozo hit a great ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Christian Campidelis made a kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Tapaiuna's Renatinho de Godoy made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romeu de Alcântara was left in no man's land by his defense there! 56 minutes into the match, Covao FC's goalkeeper Romeu de Alcântara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Silvério Gaúcho. Covao FC's Pedrinho Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 59 minutes into the match, Tapaiuna's Silvério Gaúcho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romeu de Alcântara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When João Augusto Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Tapaiuna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Augusto Nascimento couldn't finish the play. Silvério Gaúcho took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Romeu de Alcântara. Romeu de Alcântara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Tapaiuna's Renatinho de Godoy got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sebastião Mesquita hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. A collision led to Covao FC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Olavo Sarmento hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Renatinho de Godoy during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. João Augusto Nascimento might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romeu de Alcântara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Augusto Nascimento ran back to his position shaking his head. Silvério Gaúcho was extremely unlucky when he, in the 84th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Silvério Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Romeu de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Romeu de Alcântara managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Tapaiuna's Silvério Gaúcho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Tapaiuna played a much better game than Covao FC and deserved their victory. The Covao FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
