Mandassaia's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 8 minutes into the match, Mandassaia's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Pontes came free, but Sidnei França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olívio Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 12 played minutes Mandassaia got a freekick which was hit by Romário Pirani. After 15 minutes, Nilton Pontes made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Mandassaia's Sidnei França tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 18th minute, Joaquim Freire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olívio Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nilton Pontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Sidnei França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 27 played minutes Mandassaia got a freekick which was hit by Luizão Souto. Sidnei França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Guilherme França in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, AD Guarulhos's Luís Guilherme França got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Mandassaia's Augusto Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Olívio Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olívio Freitas in the 39th minute of play forced AD Guarulhos's goalkeeper Wiliam da Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olívio Freitas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Wiliam da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Luís Guilherme França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sidnei França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gernando Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. A collision led to AD Guarulhos getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Washington Britto hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Olívio Freitas to strike the kick off in the second half. Mandassaia's Sidnei França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Castro in the 51st minute of play. Luís Guilherme França fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei França having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gernando Castro in the 56th minute of play forced Mandassaia's goalkeeper Sidnei França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andrézinho Lopez during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sidnei França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cipriano Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st minute, Washington Britto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 62 minutes into the match, Mandassaia's Olívio Freitas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wiliam da Fonseca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Olívio Freitas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mandassaia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Sidnei França was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nilton Pontes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 71 minute of play. Luís Guilherme França struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Sidnei França didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AD Guarulhos. When the match was over AD Guarulhos could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Mandassaia throughout the match.
