The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Humberto Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Otávio Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute, Luiz Fernando Cavalcante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fábio Britto in the 12th minute of play forced ABSURDO FC's goalkeeper Lenílson Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Fábio Britto hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Lenílson Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Britto in the 16th minute of the match. In the 16th minute Luiz Fábio Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lenílson Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Otávio Zanette in the 18th minute of play forced Jão Goiaba FC's goalkeeper João Francisco Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute Dedê Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Francisco Nunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Danilo Senna received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lenílson Romero came out and tried to block the shot, but Danilo Senna slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 34th minute. After a defensive mix-up in ABSURDO FC's zone, Danilo Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lenílson Romero came out of the goal and Danilo Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Fábio Britto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenílson Romero having to interfere. Jão Goiaba FC's Luiz Fábio Britto got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Fábio Britto was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Luiz Fábio Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jão Goiaba FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fábio Britto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 52nd match minute, ABSURDO FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan de Toledo to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Fábio Britto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lenílson Romero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Cristiano Tasso's late challenge caught a Jão Goiaba FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristiano Tasso helped the player get up and apologised. Lenílson Romero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Senna in the 57th minute of play. If Danilo Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Jão Goiaba FC's João Francisco Nunes got control of the ball when Dedê Neves tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 63 minutes, Décio Macedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ABSURDO FC and the Jão Goiaba FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 63rd minute, Décio Macedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 66 minutes into the game, Luiz Fábio Britto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Lenílson Romero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. João Francisco Nunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Otávio Zanette in the 69th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Dedê Neves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Francisco Nunes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Dedê Neves scored 2-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of João Francisco Nunes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Jão Goiaba FC booed when ABSURDO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Fábio Britto's late challenge caught a ABSURDO FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Fábio Britto struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Lenílson Romero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jão Goiaba FC. Juan de Toledo hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Jão Goiaba FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
