Meladinho SS's Richard Brasil tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Palestra Brasil's Agostinho Soeiro got a free kick in the 7th minute. When Dudu Ortiz came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Meladinho SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dudu Ortiz couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edinho Tasso during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 17th minute, Edinho Tasso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Richard Brasil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Terra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Magno Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th match minute, Palestra Brasil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toninho Proença to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute of the match Dudu Ortiz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osvaldinho Goiano skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 28 minutes, Mateus de Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meladinho SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mateus de Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Magno Peixoto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Osvaldinho Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute Augusto Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Brasil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Augusto Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Richard Brasil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Augusto Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Augusto Terra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Richard Brasil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mateus de Carvalho to strike the kick off in the second half. Osvaldinho Goiano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mateus de Carvalho went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Toninho Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Richard Brasil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateus de Carvalho in the 63rd minute of play forced Palestra Brasil's goalkeeper Osvaldinho Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Meladinho SS's zone, Augusto Terra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Brasil came out of the goal and Augusto Terra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Palestra Brasil's Osvaldinho Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramiro de Castro in the 77th minute of play. Augusto Terra struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Richard Brasil didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palestra Brasil. If Kaká Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, Augusto Terra notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Meladinho SS's Richard Brasil. Richard Brasil was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Palestra Brasil were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
