Dário de Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Moisés Alvarenga in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio de Medeiros in the 15th minute of play forced Sá Viana FC's goalkeeper Dário de Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Moisés Alvarenga struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Dário de Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Regeneracao. Regeneracao's Laércio de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Marcinho Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Durval Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertino Saldanha in the 26th minute of the match. After 26 played minutes Regeneracao got a freekick which was hit by Murilo Cerezo. After having played for 31 minutes, Laércio de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Regeneracao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laércio de Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Sá Viana FC's Dário de Amorim got control of the ball when Moisés Alvarenga tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Marcinho Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sá Viana FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcinho Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durval Hoffmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Zé Carlos Ceresso kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Raúl de Toledo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 54th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dário de Amorim. Sá Viana FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sá Viana FC's Dário de Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laércio de Medeiros in the 60th minute of play. When Moisés Alvarenga came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Regeneracao fans jumped to their feet. Regeneracao's Durval Hoffmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Regeneracao from getting a goal against them. If Laércio de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laércio de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dário de Amorim having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcinho Vianna in the 85th minute of play forced Regeneracao's goalkeeper Durval Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albertino Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Durval Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albertino Saldanha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 95thth minute, Durval Hoffmann skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sá Viana FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Regeneracao.
