Juan Mello started the match with the kick off. Dida Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Patrick Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 5 minutes of play, Cachoeiros's Edson Cordeiro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Patrick Fernandes was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Paulinho Paraíba took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Alfredinho Trigo to make any attempt to save it. João Carlos Carioca struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Alfredinho Trigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Juventus Esporte Clube. Alfredinho Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Mello in the 16th minute of play. Dida Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Fernandes having to interfere. The supporters of Juventus Esporte Clube booed when Cachoeiros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edinho Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edinho Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Fernandes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Mello in the 38th minute of play forced Cachoeiros's goalkeeper Alfredinho Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Douglas Faustino got free with Alfredinho Trigo in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 45 minutes into the match, Juventus Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Dida Lara came free, but Patrick Fernandes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Douglas Faustino struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Alfredinho Trigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Afonsinho Mazza was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 60th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Douglas Faustino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Juventus Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Douglas Faustino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredinho Trigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alfredinho Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Mello in the 65th minute of play. Alfredinho Trigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Douglas Faustino, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Douglas Faustino in the 77th managed to get into a good position. After a defensive mix-up in Juventus Esporte Clube's zone, Edson Cordeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Fernandes came out of the goal and Edson Cordeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Douglas Faustino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
