When Betinho de Barros came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Engenhinho SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betinho de Barros couldn't finish the play. Betinho de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Fernandes having to interfere. 10 minutes into the game, Betinho de Barros lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Rui Fernandes. If Christiano Peres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 16 minutes into the match, Barraca's Nuno Simão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adriano Favoretto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Betinho de Barros in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rui Fernandes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Christiano Peres charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christiano Peres the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Engenhinho SS booed when Barraca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Engenhinho SS's Adriano Favoretto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Simão in the 36th minute of play. If Christiano Peres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Artur Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adriano Favoretto having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Engenhinho SS's Denílson Marquez got a free kick in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Betinho de Barros made a kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Betinho de Barros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rui Fernandes. Barraca's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Betinho de Barros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Gildo Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nuno Simão fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barraca's protests and gave Nuno Simão a yellow card for diving instead. Rui Fernandes came out of the goal and Betinho de Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Barraca's Alberto Camargo got a free kick in the 91st minute.
