Miguel Dante started the match with the kick off. Ademar Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Dante in the 8th minute of the match. Norberto Mota charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Norberto Mota the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After recieving a nice pass, Guarauna's Glauco França tried to score from far away in the 10th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Ian Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Rodriguinho Favoretto put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Erik Viana. 21 minutes into the match, Carlos Eduardo Rosa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Erik Viana. Guarauna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Eduardo Rosa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The audience was convinced that Carlos Eduardo Rosa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erik Viana was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Rodriguinho Favoretto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ceara's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodriguinho Favoretto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Viana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erik Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Rosa in the 44th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Eduardo Rosa made a kick off. The supporters of Guarauna booed when Ceara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Eduardo Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Ceara's Ademar Machado got control of the ball when Ian Galvão tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 56th minute Rodriguinho Favoretto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Viana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erik Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodriguinho Favoretto, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guarauna's goalkeeper Erik Viana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rodriguinho Favoretto might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erik Viana. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodriguinho Favoretto ran back to his position shaking his head. Ademar Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 86 played minutes Guarauna got a freekick which was hit by Glauco França. After 89 minutes Guarauna's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edu da Mata who took care of the corner kick. Rodriguinho Favoretto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
