The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Diogo Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fabiano Lira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 10 played minutes Aiuaba got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio de Barros. In the 17th minute, Luiz Fabiano Lira fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Diogo Baptista, passed just outside the right post. Sílvio de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Marangatu's zone, Cléberson Urbano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diogo Baptista came out of the goal and Cléberson Urbano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Fabiano Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the game, Elivélton Arruda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marangatu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aiuaba the free kick. Diogo Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fabiano Lira in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Aiuaba's Sílvio de Barros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Diogo Baptista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Diogo Baptista was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Sílvio de Barros capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sílvio de Barros really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. With a little luck, Marangatu's Diogo Baptista got control of the ball when Sílvio de Barros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Diogo Baptista stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Fabiano Lira's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Fabiano Lira was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Marangatu's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fabiano Lira came free, but Diogo Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sílvio de Barros in the 54th minute of play forced Marangatu's goalkeeper Diogo Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Marangatu's goalkeeper Diogo Baptista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Aiuaba booed when Marangatu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elivélton Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 70 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aiuaba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fabiano Lira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Diogo Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After recieving a nice pass, Marangatu's Emílio Quaresma tried to score from far away in the 81st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Sílvio de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Diogo Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 93 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aiuaba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fabiano Lira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
