Cafu Fantini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Antônio Arósio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Piraguara SC booed when esperança was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Fantini didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Urbano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jerônimo Melo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedrão Abraão during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st minute, Pedrão Abraão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fellipe Oliveira in the 24th minute of play forced Piraguara SC's goalkeeper Antônio Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cafu Fantini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Antônio Arósio made a huge save. In the 34th minute Fellipe Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Arósio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Yan Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the game, César Lago was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Piraguara SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave esperança the free kick. The goalkeeper, Antônio Arósio, was totally fooled by esperança's Anderson Andrade, who 42 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fellipe Oliveira to make the kick off. Piraguara SC's Antônio Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fellipe Oliveira in the 55th minute of play. Yan Antunes was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 64th minute. Piraguara SC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Edgard Magalhães got his second yellow card in the match during the 65th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Edgard Magalhães hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Ciro Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Arósio having to interfere. Cafu Fantini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antônio Arósio having to make a save. Antônio Arósio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cafu Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Zacarias Simões charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zacarias Simões the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Antônio Arósio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cafu Fantini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
