Ediberto Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Fábio Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Paulo Nóbrega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Maranhense having to interfere. Abel Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willian Bertassi in the 17th minute of the match. Abel Pires made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nico Martins in the 19th minute of play. In the 25th minute Luís Fábio Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ediberto Maranhense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nico Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 35 minutes into the match, Palmira SC's Luís Fábio Rocha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ediberto Maranhense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 37 minutes into the match, Palmira SC's goal looked a bit too open when Willian Bertassi came free, but Abel Pires reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 53rdth minute of the game Luís Fábio Rocha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atletico-MG's Ediberto Maranhense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 55th match minute, Atletico-MG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Eduardo Custódio to maneuver through the defense. Palmira SC's João Paulo Nóbrega got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Palmira SC's zone, Willian Bertassi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abel Pires came out of the goal and Willian Bertassi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nico Martins's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abel Pires read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Abel Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willian Bertassi in the 65th minute of the match. João Paulo Nóbrega scored 1-1 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ediberto Maranhense, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Atletico-MG:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Palmira SC:s goal. Otávio Viana placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! In the 83rd minute, Atletico-MG's Willian Bertassi dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Ediberto Maranhense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Atletico-MG getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Edson dos Santos hit a great ball. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Palmira SC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
