Perivaldo Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 14 played minutes Academia do Palestra got a freekick which was hit by José Augusto Moura. Lage's Gugu Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Richard da Silveiras short, quick shot in the 19thth minute got Armindo Mumbach to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Perivaldo Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Armindo Mumbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Academia do Palestra's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Quaresma came free, but Mauro Freire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonas Quaresma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute Gugu Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Freire saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
