The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Parecy EC's Narciso Cosme in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Gino Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Didi Tepedino having to interfere. The supporters of Tanquinho EC booed when Parecy EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Didi Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gino Guimarães in the 25th minute of play. In the 28th minute Bruninho Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Trancoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Didi Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gino Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Narciso Cosme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Didi Tepedino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Parecy EC's Zé Roberto Trancoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Parecy EC from getting a goal against them. After having played for 37 minutes, Carlos Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tanquinho EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Monteiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gino Guimarães made a kick off. After 56 played minutes Parecy EC got a freekick which was hit by Dráusio Gaúcho. Didi Tepedino made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Narciso Cosme sent off a good shot on target. 60 minutes into the match, Parecy EC's Gino Guimarães sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Didi Tepedino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 63rd minute, Parecy EC's Luís Fernando Figueiredo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Luís Fernando Figueiredo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Parecy EC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Luís Fernando Figueiredo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Zé Roberto Trancoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruninho Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Juninho Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bruninho Silva in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Roberto Trancoso saved Parecy EC from getting behind. 89 minutes into the match, Tanquinho EC's Bruninho Silva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zé Roberto Trancoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Ciro Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Parecy EC's Zé Roberto Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Silva in the 98th minute of play. Tanquinho EC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
