After 2 minutes, Alessandro Perez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chaves and the PEREGRINOS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Chaves's Alessandro Perez got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Caco de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Motta having to interfere. Leonardo Tande charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leonardo Tande the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for PEREGRINOS! The supporters of PEREGRINOS booed when Chaves was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alessandro Perez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute, Alessandro Perez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manoel Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Motta having to interfere. Caco de Queiroz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antônio Carlos Motta having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in PEREGRINOS's zone, Manoel Motta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Carlos Motta came out of the goal and Manoel Motta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caco de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Antônio Carlos Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. PEREGRINOS's Antônio Carlos Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manoel Motta in the 33rd minute of play. Caco de Queiroz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Antônio Carlos Motta made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in PEREGRINOS's zone, Caco de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Carlos Motta came out of the goal and Caco de Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alessandro Perez hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Adelino Nunes hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Caco de Queiroz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 46thth minute, Antônio Carlos Motta skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manoel Motta to strike the kick off in the second half. Antônio Carlos Motta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Caco de Queiroz's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. PEREGRINOS's Antônio Carlos Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manoel Motta in the 54th minute of play. Antônio Carlos Motta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Manoel Motta went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Antônio Carlos Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manoel Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Adolfo Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Ramiro Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chaves's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when João Adolfo Gaúcho scored to the left of an out of position Ramiro Borges, making the score, 3-1. If João Adolfo Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafinha Dionísio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Ramiro Borges made a huge save. If Manoel Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute, Rafinha Dionísio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Chaves getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Ivo Velloso hit a great ball. When João Adolfo Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the PEREGRINOS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Adolfo Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. Chaves were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of PEREGRINOS for a fine match.
