The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Alan Linhares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Remigio Guerra. The Hunters's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alan Linhares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hílton Vergílio in the 7th minute of play forced Varzearia AD's goalkeeper Washington Matorin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Varzearia AD booed when The Hunters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Vítor Saraiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Remigio Guerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubens Brodel in the 11th minute of play. A collision led to The Hunters getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Enio Fonseca hit a great ball. Remigio Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubens Brodel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, The Hunters's Washington Matorin threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Hílton Vergílio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 15th minute, Belchior Prado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Remigio Guerra was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Remigio Guerra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Belchior Prado went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 24th minute, Kaká Meira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hílton Vergílio struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Washington Matorin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Hunters. Remigio Guerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belchior Prado in the 28th minute of the match. Edgard Miranda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Remigio Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubens Brodel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the game, Varzearia AD's Carlos Fernando Pirani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Remigio Guerra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Remigio Guerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Fernando Pirani in the 37th minute of play. After some careless play in the The Hunters defense, Carlos Fernando Pirani kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Remigio Guerra. The The Hunters fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Remigio Guerra should have stopped the shot. Remigio Guerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breno Passos in the 46th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the game, Varzearia AD's Alan Linhares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Remigio Guerra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rubens Brodel to strike the kick off in the second half. Rubens Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remigio Guerra having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Remigio Guerra successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Varzearia AD's Washington Matorin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hílton Vergílio in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Varzearia AD's goalkeeper Washington Matorin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 64 minutes into the match, Belchior Prado dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Remigio Guerra, 0-7. Remigio Guerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernando Pirani in the 67th minute of the match. Remigio Guerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alan Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Remigio Guerra was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Belchior Prado capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Belchior Prado really showed his touch with that goal: 0-8. 73 minutes into the match, The Hunters's goal looked a bit too open when Alan Linhares came free, but Remigio Guerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Belchior Prado's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Remigio Guerra firmly grabbed it by the left post. Edgard Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jarbas Santana fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Varzearia AD's protests and gave Jarbas Santana a yellow card for diving instead. Jarbas Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Hílton Vergílio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Washington Matorin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Hunters's Remigio Guerra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save The Hunters from getting a goal against them. 89 minutes into the match, The Hunters's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens Brodel came free, but Remigio Guerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Fernando Pirani got free with Remigio Guerra in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd match minute, The Hunters was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enio Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. Jarbas Santana, 93 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Edgard Miranda's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Washington Matorin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. Varzearia AD played a much better game than The Hunters and deserved their victory. The The Hunters players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
