Itaiuba SS's Válter Baptista proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Itaiuba SS from getting a goal against them. In the 22nd minute, João Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean Furtado hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 26 minutes into the game, Carcara SC's Oswaldo Queirós nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Válter Baptista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Válter Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorginho de Carvalho in the 43rd minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
