Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Varzeas SS's Rubinho Jacinto started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Nilson de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arthur Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 13 minutes into the game, Rubinho Jacinto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Chiquinho Almeida was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Franklin da Fonseca was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. Aruaru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Rubinho Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiquinho Almeida having to interfere. Rubinho Jacinto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chiquinho Almeida read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Varzeas SS's Clemente Guerra got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee showed Caco Cearense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 46 played minutes Varzeas SS got a freekick which was hit by Caco Cearense. With a little luck, Varzeas SS's Benedito Ramos got control of the ball when Arthur Brasil tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Franklin da Fonseca made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Henrique Pinheiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Franklin da Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Varzeas SS's Benedito Ramos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur Brasil in the 61st minute of play. After 77 played minutes Aruaru got a freekick which was hit by Hílton Pernambucano. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Rubinho Jacinto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varzeas SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Rubinho Jacinto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chiquinho Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chiquinho Almeida made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Clemente Guerra sent off a good shot on target. Rubinho Jacinto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chiquinho Almeida read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. A collision led to Aruaru getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Franklin da Fonseca hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Varzeas SS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
