In the 2nd match minute, Arvoredos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléber de Souza to maneuver through the defense. Sílvio Luiz da Rocha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 9thth minute, Zé Roberto Gomes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Flavinho Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th minute, Flavinho Mineiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquim Garcia was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Joaquim Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felippe de Almeida in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Felippe de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Flavinho Mineiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borgueto's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavinho Mineiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Garcia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 41 minutes, Agostinho Almeida mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arvoredos and the Borgueto players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 41 played minutes Arvoredos got a freekick which was hit by Agostinho Almeida. Borgueto's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by César Santos in the 44th minute. Borgueto's Gernando Romero was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Joaquim Garcia in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 48 minutes had been played when some careless play by Arvoredos's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. César Santos was slow to take the kick. During this time Borgueto's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Anísio Albuquerque heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Célio Mineiro made a kick off. After 53 minutes, Frederico Simões mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Borgueto and the Arvoredos players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Borgueto getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Frederico Simões hit a great ball. Flavinho Mineiro made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 57thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Joaquim Garcia would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Flavinho Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Garcia having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Arvoredos's Agostinho Almeida got a free kick in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felippe de Almeida in the 66th minute of play forced Arvoredos's goalkeeper Joaquim Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquim Garcia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flavinho Mineiro in the 68th minute. Flavinho Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Joaquim Garcia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Felippe de Almeida came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Borgueto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felippe de Almeida couldn't finish the play. Flavinho Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Joaquim Garcia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felippe de Almeida blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquim Garcia having to make a save. Arvoredos's Joaquim Garcia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Arvoredos from getting a goal against them. In the 89th minute Felippe de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Roberto Gomes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Luiz da Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 93rd minute, Frederico Simões hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 94 played minutes, Arvoredos's Eugênio Camargo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zé Roberto Gomes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Arvoredos reached it. Joaquim Garcia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felippe de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle sounded Borgueto left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Arvoredos.
