The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fabinho Prado showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Josué da Mata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Garanhuns FC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Hermínio de Queirós hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Garanhuns FC's zone, Josué da Mata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabinho Prado came out of the goal and Josué da Mata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto Munhoz in the 15th minute of play forced Lucuri SC's goalkeeper Cláudio Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Tião de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lucuri SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tião de Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabinho Prado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Josué da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabinho Prado having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, Garanhuns FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermínio de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. When Lucuri SC's Josué da Mata in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Garanhuns FC's goalie prevented a goal. Cláudio Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bebeto Munhoz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cláudio Brito came out of the goal and Bernardinho Freire tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Tião de Amaral fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lucuri SC's protests and gave Tião de Amaral a yellow card for diving instead. After 44 played minutes Lucuri SC got a freekick which was hit by Tião de Amaral. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bebeto Munhoz to strike the kick off in the second half. Bernardinho Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Brito having to interfere. Fabinho Prado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Josué da Mata in the 66th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Garanhuns FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tião de Amaral came free, but Fabinho Prado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardinho Freire blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cláudio Brito having to make a save. Magno Chaves hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Garanhuns FC's goalkeeper Fabinho Prado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Bernardinho Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot.
