Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Russas EC's Murilo das Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelinho Schmidt in the 14th minute of play. If Pedro Luiz Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cauã Rocha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Murilo das Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Russas EC's Arí Cearense got a free kick in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arí Cearense in the 27th minute of play forced Atlético Paulista's goalkeeper Nilton Loureiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arí Cearense kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Arí Cearense took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Nilton Loureiro to make any attempt to save it. Cauã Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murilo das Neves having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Russas EC's zone, Pedro Luiz Mangueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Murilo das Neves came out of the goal and Pedro Luiz Mangueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Marcelinho Schmidt fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Paulista's protests and gave Marcelinho Schmidt a yellow card for diving instead. Marcelinho Schmidt hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Russas EC's zone, Cauã Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Murilo das Neves came out of the goal and Cauã Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Russas EC's Arí Cearense got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Luiz Mangueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Cauã Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th minute Marcelinho Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Murilo das Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atlético Paulista's Pedro Luiz Mangueira got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Atlético Paulista's Cauã Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Atlético Paulista booed when Russas EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elói Duarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Russas EC's protests and gave Yan Amorim a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Russas EC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Yan Amorim hit a great ball. Russas EC's Murilo das Neves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Russas EC from getting a goal against them. Atlético Paulista were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after Russas EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cauã Rocha took the corner. Cauã Rocha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murilo das Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Paulista's goalkeeper Nilton Loureiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
