In the 7thth minute of the game Matheus Goiano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CRUZEIRO's Frank Secco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 9 minutes, Tadeu Marquez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CRUZEIRO and the Cauna players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, CRUZEIRO's Tadeu Marquez got a free kick in the 9th minute. After 10 played minutes Cauna got a freekick which was hit by Vicente do Valle. After having played for 11 minutes, Tadeu Marquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CRUZEIRO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tadeu Marquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frank Secco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raimundo Fontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, Raimundo Fontes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Frank Secco was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. A collision led to Cauna getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Wilton Neiva hit a great ball. Frank Secco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Fontes in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matheus Goiano in the 40th minute of play forced CRUZEIRO's goalkeeper Frank Secco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvério Brito struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Duarte Pirani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CRUZEIRO. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tadeu Marquez was the one to do the kick off. Tadeu Marquez might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Duarte Pirani. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tadeu Marquez ran back to his position shaking his head. CRUZEIRO's Frank Secco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raimundo Fontes in the 60th minute of play. Cauna's attack was well implemented in the 64th minute, but when Matheus Goiano was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. CRUZEIRO's Frank Secco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save CRUZEIRO from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in CRUZEIRO's zone, Matheus Goiano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Secco came out of the goal and Matheus Goiano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Matheus Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Secco having to interfere. Matheus Goiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Frank Secco made a huge save. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cauna's goalkeeper Duarte Pirani, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 92nd minute, Doriva Correia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duarte Pirani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tadeu Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The Cauna supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cauna would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
