The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felipe Mangueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reginaldo Chaves, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 9th match minute, Esterao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serginho Fernandez to maneuver through the defense. Nico de Senna hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Esterao's Wilton Prestes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Mariquioca AD. In the 15th match minute, Esterao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Augusto Penha to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Mariquioca AD's Thomás Hames got a free kick in the 16th minute. After a rather tough play, Esterao's Yuri Correia got a free kick in the 18th minute. Glauco Loureiro's late challenge caught a Esterao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Glauco Loureiro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, one of Mariquioca AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mariquioca AD. Wilton Prestes walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Yuri Correia to strike the kick off in the second half. When Esterao's Yuri Correia in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Reginaldo Chaves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Felipe Mangueira made a huge save. After having played for 72 minutes, Sílvio Luiz Pitta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esterao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luiz Pitta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dário de Amorim in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Felipe Mangueira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Glauco Loureiro was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 81 minutes had been played. In a very dangerous position, a player in Mariquioca AD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 80th minute. Penalty! In the 87th minute Yuri Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Mariquioca AD getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. José Vítor Leal hit a great ball. In the 89th minute, Sílvio Luiz Pitta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yuri Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Alberto Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 95 minutes of play, Esterao's Sílvio Luiz Pitta made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alberto Vidal was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Esterao fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mariquioca AD had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
