In the 5th minute, one of Piuma SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Piuma SS. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Tebaida FC. Márcio Antunes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Afonso Borges. 0-1. Piuma SS were furious when Jeferson Capixaba was red carded, 13 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 13 played minutes Piuma SS got a freekick which was hit by Jeferson Capixaba. Guto Carneiro kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Piuma SS's goal looked a bit too open when Geovânio Mangueira came free, but Afonso Borges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Tebaida FC's Geovânio Mangueira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Afonso Borges made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After a rather tough play, Piuma SS's Silvério Tróia got a free kick in the 28th minute. Afonso Borges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélio Sampaio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Caetano Pacheco to make the kick off. Afonso Borges made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hélio Sampaio in the 58th minute. Piuma SS's Afonso Borges proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Piuma SS from getting a goal against them. Márcio Antunes made in the 63rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Valério Berger immediately put the ball in play. After a rather tough play, Tebaida FC's Evandro Félix got a free kick in the 77th minute. After 78 minutes, Evandro Félix mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tebaida FC and the Piuma SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Piuma SS booed when Tebaida FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evandro Félix didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 81 minutes, Kléberson Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tebaida FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kléberson Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kléberson Fonseca hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Caetano Pacheco was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 85th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Tero Hanninen struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Adalmo Félix didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piuma SS. The Tebaida FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tebaida FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
