If Tales Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fortress F.C's Adelino Neiva got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Serginho Miranda came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Fortress F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho Miranda couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serginho Miranda in the 13th minute of play forced Congonhas AD's goalkeeper Christiano Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Congonhas AD's Tales Mello dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 23rd match minute, Congonhas AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gino Recife to maneuver through the defense. After 31 minutes, José Carlos Guerra made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Fortress F.C's Luisão Faria tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A hard shot 35 in the game by José Carlos Guerra from a close distance when the talented Luisão Faria managed to make a qualified save. Fortress F.C's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Fortress F.C's Adelino Neiva got a free kick in the 36th minute. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Tales Mello put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Luisão Faria. If Dênis Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The supporters of Congonhas AD booed when Fortress F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nildo Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tales Mello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Luisão Faria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luisão Faria didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Carlos Guerra went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tales Mello in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luisão Faria prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fortress F.C's Luisão Faria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Guerra in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd match minute, Fortress F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Neiva to maneuver through the defense. 74 minutes into the game, Congonhas AD's Tales Mello nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luisão Faria made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. In the 77th minute, Serginho Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edgar Tasso's late challenge caught a Congonhas AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar Tasso helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 78th minute of the game. One of Fortress F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Congonhas AD:s goal. 83 minutes into the match, Tales Mello notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Fortress F.C's Luisão Faria. Luisão Faria was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luisão Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tales Mello in the 98th minute of the match. Nildo Sarmento's late challenge caught a Congonhas AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nildo Sarmento helped the player get up and apologised. After 98 played minutes Fortress F.C got a freekick which was hit by Nildo Sarmento. Congonhas AD's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
