The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Percival Eger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Himalaia's Duarte Linhares got a free kick in the 5th minute. 6 minutes into the match, Guaicurus's Francisco Pimenta broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Giuseppe Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Himalaia booed when Guaicurus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafinha Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Himalaia's Samuel Guedes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 19th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Guaicurus. 25 minutes into the match, Himalaia's goal looked a bit too open when José Paulo Pernambucano came free, but Ernani Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernani Campidelis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toninho Maciel in the 30th minute of the match. With 34 minutes on the clock, Rafinha Tavares commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Samuel Guedes placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! 39 minutes into the game, Giuseppe Paiva recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bruninho Queiroz. Giuseppe Paiva showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. With a little luck, Guaicurus's Bruninho Queiroz got control of the ball when Sidnei Mineiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Giuseppe Paiva was the one to do the kick off. Fred Xavier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernani Campidelis having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Percival Eger left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Himalaia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. When Himalaia's Zé Roberto Costa in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giuseppe Paiva in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bruninho Queiroz saved Guaicurus from getting behind. Bruninho Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Percival Eger, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Falcão Vianna's late challenge caught a Himalaia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Falcão Vianna helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Guaicurus's Falcão Vianna got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Percival Eger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Bruninho Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Himalaia had played much better football throughout.
