The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mané Bezerra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 29 played minutes Patricio SS got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fernando Azevedo. Alan Recife's late challenge caught a G.A.Jeromina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alan Recife helped the player get up and apologised. Alan Recife kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. If Virgílio Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Carlos Augusto Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mané Bezerra having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Cláudio Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nestor Marinho to make the kick off. Adhemar Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nestor Marinho in the 52nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Salgado in the 59th minute of play forced Patricio SS's goalkeeper Adhemar Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Virgílio Salgado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adhemar Hoffmann was relentless in the 61st minute of the game.
