The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Laércio da Mata made a precise shot to the right of Marquinhos Marques. Assédio FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Assédio FC's zone, Laércio da Mata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marquinhos Marques came out of the goal and Laércio da Mata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rubens Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 14 minutes of play, Fortuna XXV's Laércio da Mata made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marquinhos Marques was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Rubens Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugênio Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Acácio Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dorian Pombal fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fortuna XXV's protests and gave Dorian Pombal a yellow card for diving instead. Assédio FC's Severino de Alcântara took a good shot, in the 27th minute, which hit the crossbar above Acácio Viana's head, and flew over the goal. Fortuna XXV's manager was very thankful on the sidelines as his team had managed to keep the ball out of the net after some serious pressure by Assédio FC. Marquinhos Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laércio da Mata in the 29th minute of play. A collision led to Fortuna XXV getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Dorian Pombal hit a great ball. In the 34th minute of the match Severino de Alcântara shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Acácio Viana showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 36th minute of the match Dorian Pombal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marquinhos Marques skillfully saved the ball. Eugênio Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Viana having to interfere. Severino de Alcântara got a throw-in 45 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Eugênio Damião. After 48 played minutes Assédio FC got a freekick which was hit by Dé Moreno. Marquinhos Marques didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Laércio da Mata went, in the 49th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Geovânio Loureiro hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 68 minutes into the match, Eugênio Damião notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Fortuna XXV's Acácio Viana. Acácio Viana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rubens Lago struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Acácio Viana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Assédio FC. Laércio da Mata kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Fortuna XXV's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens Lago came free, but Acácio Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rubens Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geovanni Dantas charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geovanni Dantas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 98th match minute, Fortuna XXV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manolo Loyola to maneuver through the defense. The Fortuna XXV supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fortuna XXV would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
