Horácio Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 11 minutes, Kléberson Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Justina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kléberson Guimarães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Fábio Valle during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lino Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedrão Alves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lino Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Wanderson Cardoso's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Horácio Souto firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 31st minute Willian Novaes suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Álvaro Massa during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Álvaro Massa hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. If Lino Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 63rd minute Lino Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrão Alves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lino Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Kléberson Guimarães blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedrão Alves having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Barreto in the 85th minute of play forced Varzeao's goalkeeper Pedrão Alves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wanderson Cardoso's late challenge caught a Justina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wanderson Cardoso helped the player get up and apologised. In the 89th match minute, Varzeao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wanderson Cardoso to maneuver through the defense. 93 minutes into the match, Kléberson Guimarães notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Varzeao's Pedrão Alves. Pedrão Alves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Justina played a much better game than Varzeao and deserved their victory. The Varzeao players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
