Carneiro SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Paulo Toledo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Luiz Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 9th minute Ramiro Paes suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Edinho Meireles charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edinho Meireles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edinho Meireles hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Jacu's Dorival Ribeiro got a free kick in the 12th minute. Zé Roberto Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 15 minutes into the match, Zé Roberto Vale notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Jacu's Pedro Luiz Passos. Pedro Luiz Passos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 20 minutes into the match, Jacu's goalkeeper Pedro Luiz Passos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Roberto Vale. Jacu's Pedro Luiz Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Roberto Vale in the 23rd minute of play. Carneiro SC's Zé Roberto Vale got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zé Roberto Vale's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 27thth minute, Pedro Luiz Passos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Roberto Vale got free with Pedro Luiz Passos in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Carneiro SC booed when Jacu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edinho Meireles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Zé Roberto Vale left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Carneiro SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jacu's goalkeeper Pedro Luiz Passos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudinho Monteiro in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luisão Simão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 41 minutes, Orlando Breckenfeld managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jacu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlando Breckenfeld was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luisão Simão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Breckenfeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute, João Pedro de Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jacu's Claudinho Monteiro in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Carneiro SC's goalie prevented a goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Roberto Vale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luisão Simão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Monteiro in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Roberto Vale in the 54th minute of play forced Jacu's goalkeeper Pedro Luiz Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th minute Zé Roberto Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luiz Passos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th match minute, Jacu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edinho Meireles to maneuver through the defense. Jacu's Pedro Luiz Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Roberto Vale in the 84th minute of play. Luisão Simão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jacu. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Carneiro SC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Jacu had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
