After 8 played minutes Atafona got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Reis. In the 11th minute, Vicente Paraense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atafona fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Carvoalzinho SS's Augusto Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Paraense in the 14th minute of play. When Carvoalzinho SS's Alberto Moura in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Augusto Mazza was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Atafona's zone, Hílton Alvarenga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubinho Schmidt came out of the goal and Hílton Alvarenga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Carvoalzinho SS booed when Atafona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente França didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Zé Lopez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Augusto Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulisses Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubinho Schmidt having to interfere. Vicente Paraense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Augusto Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Vicente Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vicente Paraense made a kick off. Alberto Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubinho Schmidt having to interfere. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Atafona's Vicente Paraense in the 62nd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Augusto Mazza was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Carvoalzinho SS through an amazing save. 65 minutes into the game, Zé Lopez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 87th minute, Hílton Alvarenga made a precise shot to the right of Rubinho Schmidt. Atafona's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. A collision led to Atafona getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Roberto Reis hit a great ball. If Vicente Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Atafona supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Atafona would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
