Francisc Crăciun struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Severino Veloso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flamengo. 8 minutes into the game, Francisc Crăciun cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Severino Veloso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Flamengo defense, Jonas Rezende kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artur Vides. The Flamengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artur Vides should have stopped the shot. Sebastião Damião took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Artur Vides. Flamengo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Luiz Paulo Cardozo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 25 minutes, Maurinho Hoffmann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sarutai SC and the Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes Sarutai SC got a freekick which was hit by Maurinho Hoffmann. Júnior Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ernesto Couto fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sarutai SC's protests and gave Ernesto Couto a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Sarutai SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurinho Hoffmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 37 played minutes, Flamengo's Dito Pimenta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Severino Veloso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Flamengo reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Sarutai SC's zone, Francisc Crăciun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severino Veloso came out of the goal and Francisc Crăciun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Francisc Crăciun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Veloso having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ramiro Richie to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, Ramiro Richie recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Severino Veloso. Ramiro Richie showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Sarutai SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramiro Richie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Severino Veloso made a huge save. In the 62nd minute Jonas Rezende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Vides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonas Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Vides having to interfere. If Júnior Brasil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 67 minutes, Abelardo Donato mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sarutai SC and the Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sarutai SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 67th minute. Penalty! Severino Veloso stood somewhat misplaced when Ramiro Richie came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 77 minute. With his leg Severino Veloso managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Flamengo's Ramiro Richie fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Sarutai SC's Severino Veloso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Sarutai SC from getting a goal against them. When Francisc Crăciun came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisc Crăciun couldn't finish the play. After 88 played minutes Sarutai SC got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Rezende. Ramiro Richie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded Flamengo left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sarutai SC.
