Franco's Frank Magalhães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Franco from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cacá Berger in the 15th minute of play forced Americanos's goalkeeper Maicon de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maicon de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cacá Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. If Cacá Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Americanos's Maicon de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cacá Berger in the 42nd minute of play. Ernani do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maicon de Brito having to interfere. Maicon de Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cacá Berger in the 45th minute of the match. Ernani do Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Maicon de Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ernani do Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 50th minute, the Franco fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernani do Nascimento couldn't finish the play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Oséias Ramos hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute Waldemar Bueno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Magalhães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oséias Ramos's late challenge caught a Franco's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Magalhães was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew the final whistle, Americanos could leave the field as winners, despite Franco having more of the ball for most of the match.
