Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Zé Carlos Mendonça started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4th minute, Genílson Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 6th match minute, Paulos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Novaes to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Paulos defense, Marcinho Lopez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Telmo Gaúcho. The Paulos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Telmo Gaúcho should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Paulos getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Marcelo Novaes hit a great ball. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Faustino Donostia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marcinho Lopez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Telmo Gaúcho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. If Marcinho Lopez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Genílson Carneiro's late challenge caught a Salvador C.F's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Genílson Carneiro helped the player get up and apologised. Telmo Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agostinho Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, Paulos's goal looked a bit too open when Marcinho Lopez came free, but Telmo Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Délio Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Faustino Donostia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, Salvador C.F's goalkeeper Faustino Donostia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcelo Novaes. Faustino Donostia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Carlos Mendonça in the 30th minute. A collision led to Salvador C.F getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Alexandre Quaresma recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39th minute of the match, Délio Melo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Faustino Donostia was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Tarcisio Donato struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Telmo Gaúcho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salvador C.F. Faustino Donostia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Délio Melo in the 45th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Tarcisio Donato managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salvador C.F's supporters rose to their feet, but Tarcisio Donato was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Salvador C.F were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexandre Quaresma stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Marcelo Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Paulos's Zé Carlos Mendonça got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Telmo Gaúcho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agostinho Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Tarcisio Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 64th minute Alexandre Quaresma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Gaúcho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tarcisio Donato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Telmo Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marcinho Lopez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Salvador C.F's Tarcisio Donato got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 81 minutes, Délio Melo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paulos and the Salvador C.F players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Salvador C.F booed when Paulos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Délio Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Telmo Gaúcho managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when Salvador C.F's Marcinho Lopez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Marcinho Lopez struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Telmo Gaúcho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salvador C.F. After 92 played minutes Salvador C.F got a freekick which was hit by Agostinho Santos. Despite being the better team, Salvador C.F failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
