When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Osvaldinho Mesquita put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Osvaldinho de Alcântara. 41 minutes into the match, Icana EC's goalkeeper Osvaldinho de Alcântara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldinho Mesquita. Chicuru's Osvaldinho Mesquita got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giuseppe Ceresso might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osvaldinho de Alcântara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giuseppe Ceresso ran back to his position shaking his head. After 46 played minutes, Chicuru's Aírton Bueno shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Osvaldinho de Alcântara came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chicuru reached it.

In the 52nd minute, Emanuel de Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Giuseppe Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel de Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Vítor Baptista in the 70th minute of the match. Luiz Eduardo Araújo struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Osvaldinho de Alcântara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chicuru. Osvaldinho Mesquita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Osvaldinho de Alcântara having to make a save. Icana EC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Chicuru had controlled the match.
