In the 21st minute, Sergio's Edinho Oliveira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Donatello Moreno. Donatello Moreno yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. If Edinho Oliveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Caru's zone, Wágner Arce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donatello Moreno came out of the goal and Wágner Arce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 32 played minutes Caru got a freekick which was hit by Caco Paraíba. 33 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Sergio's Wágner Arce fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 38th minute, Dudu Moura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manuel Pinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 40th minute, Wágner Arce got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Sergio booed when Caru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dênis Varela didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dudu Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edinho Oliveira in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Donatello Moreno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Caru's Donatello Moreno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wágner Arce in the 59th minute of play. When Edinho Oliveira came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Sergio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edinho Oliveira couldn't finish the play. Wágner Arce took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Donatello Moreno. Donatello Moreno dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. After 68 played minutes Sergio got a freekick which was hit by Vinícius Ferraz. Naldo Dantas was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 72nd minute. Caru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Wágner Arce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the game, Sérgio Lira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sergio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caru the free kick.
