Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Ephigenia's Nelsinho Dante started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelsinho Dante in the 5th minute of play forced Abacaxy's goalkeeper José Vítor Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelsinho Dante in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Vítor Miranda saved Abacaxy from getting behind. Carlos Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Nascimento having to interfere. With his leg Luciano Nascimento managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Abacaxy's Ulysses Alcântara fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Luciano Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Negri in the 14th minute of the match. The supporters of Abacaxy booed when Ephigenia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdemar Mineiro hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Pedro Simão's late challenge caught a Ephigenia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Simão helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ephigenia booed when Abacaxy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Carlos Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Betão de Andrade hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Ephigenia's Fiori Palmeira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 28th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Abacaxy. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelsinho Dante in the 30th minute of play forced Abacaxy's goalkeeper José Vítor Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Vítor Miranda came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Ephigenia's Giuseppe Braga. But to his dismay, Giuseppe Braga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulysses Alcântara in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luciano Nascimento prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ephigenia's goalkeeper Luciano Nascimento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Abacaxy's José Vítor Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelsinho Dante in the 47th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ulysses Alcântara to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Ephigenia's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Negri came free, but Luciano Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Nascimento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ulysses Alcântara's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. When Abacaxy's Ulysses Alcântara in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ephigenia's goalie prevented a goal. Márcio Dante hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Ephigenia's Luciano Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agostinho Quadros in the 59th minute of play. Carlos Negri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Luciano Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ulysses Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 67 played minutes Ephigenia got a freekick which was hit by Márcio Dante. Luciano Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A beautiful save bye Ephigenia's goalie prevented a goal. 88 minutes into the game, Ronaldinho Leme was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Abacaxy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ephigenia the free kick. In the 88th minute, Ronaldinho Leme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Abacaxy's José Vítor Miranda got control of the ball when Giuseppe Braga tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Abacaxy lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
