Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Osmar Sarmento kicked off to start the match. Monsuaba's Tibúrcio Favoretto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Custódio in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Fao's Aníbal Diniz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tibúrcio Favoretto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Monsuaba's Tibúrcio Favoretto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aníbal Diniz in the 18th minute of play. César Custódio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tibúrcio Favoretto having to interfere. Fao's Aníbal Diniz got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 26 minutes, Zé Carlos Brodel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monsuaba and the Fao players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th minute, Zé Carlos Brodel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute, César Custódio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tibúrcio Favoretto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Osmar Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Fao were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aníbal Diniz to strike the kick off in the second half. Osmar Sarmento might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernardinho Dantas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Osmar Sarmento ran back to his position shaking his head. Alessandro Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If César Custódio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernardinho Dantas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alessandro Lucas in the 63rd minute of play. César Custódio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tibúrcio Favoretto having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Monsuaba's zone, Aníbal Diniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tibúrcio Favoretto came out of the goal and Aníbal Diniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When César Custódio came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Fao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that César Custódio couldn't finish the play. If César Custódio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Tibúrcio Favoretto managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Fao's César Custódio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Fao booed when Monsuaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dráuzio Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Fao getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Hamílton Donatello hit a great ball. César Custódio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Tibúrcio Favoretto made a huge save. Aníbal Diniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tibúrcio Favoretto made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when César Custódio sent off a good shot on target. Erik Castro's late challenge caught a Fao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erik Castro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 95th match minute, Monsuaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Castro to maneuver through the defense. Fao were awarded a corner in the 98th minute after Monsuaba's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Roberto Bastos took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Roberto Bastos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tibúrcio Favoretto quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
