Amauri Bertassi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Furtado having to interfere. Osvaldinho Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute Osvaldinho Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Carlos Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baltazar Furtado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amauri Bertassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After a rather tough play, Combate's Kiko Bastos got a free kick in the 19th minute. Amauri Bertassi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Baltazar Furtado having to make a save. After having played for 30 minutes, Osvaldinho Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Combate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osvaldinho Secco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nelson Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. After 33 played minutes Charitas got a freekick which was hit by Marcinho Nascimento. Giuseppe Vinhas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Charitas's Marcinho Nascimento got a free kick in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho Secco in the 44th minute of play forced Charitas's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antônio Carlos Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho Secco in the 48th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldinho Secco to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Carvalho got free with Baltazar Furtado in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Osvaldinho Secco put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Antônio Carlos Cunha. 66 minutes into the game, Fernão Paraense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Charitas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Combate the free kick. Fernão Paraense hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. 68 minutes into the match, Charitas's goal looked a bit too open when André Luiz Nunes came free, but Antônio Carlos Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lúcio Carvalho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Baltazar Furtado made a huge save. After 70 played minutes Combate got a freekick which was hit by Manfredo Bezerra. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Giuseppe Vinhas in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antônio Carlos Cunha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lúcio Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 84 minutes, Lúcio Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charitas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lúcio Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nelson Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Combate's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
