A collision led to Balaka FC getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Marquinhos Arósio hit a great ball. Mateus Vianna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateus Vianna in the 11th minute of play forced Sudene FC's goalkeeper Luizão Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Sudene FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luizão Travassos should have stopped the shot. Marco Pontes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Luizão Travassos made a huge save. Adilson Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovanni Costa in the 28th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Balaka FC's Andrézinho Freire got a free kick in the 29th minute. Adilson Barral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Gaúcho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luizão Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mateus Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sudene FC's goalkeeper Luizão Travassos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Adilson Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Gaúcho, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Marco Pontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Luizão Travassos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st match minute, Sudene FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roger de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Marco Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Travassos having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by César de Carvalho during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Balaka FC booed when Sudene FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. César de Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mateus Vianna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mateus Vianna to make the kick off. Mateus Vianna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Luizão Travassos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luizão Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mateus Vianna in the 57th minute of the match. Daniel Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Balaka FC's Adilson Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Gaúcho in the 61st minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Balaka FC's Marco Pontes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luizão Travassos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 67th match minute, Sudene FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giovanni Costa to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Gaúcho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adilson Barral having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giovanni Costa got free with Adilson Barral in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mateus Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Travassos having to interfere. Giovanni Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marco Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Travassos having to interfere. Sudene FC's Luizão Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateus Vianna in the 84th minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, Mateus Vianna notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Sudene FC's Luizão Travassos. Luizão Travassos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luizão Travassos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marco Pontes's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Mateus Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balaka FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateus Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luizão Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marco Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Travassos having to interfere. After having played for 96 minutes, Daniel Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sudene FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Gaúcho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
